Full-Service Consignment - How It Works
As you bring items in, we select what our customers will buy. Please understand that our customer’s preferences must be our selection guidelines. Sometimes there will be items we cannot sell due to brand, style, condition, or inventory levels.
We screen, select, price, tag, hang, store, put out, merchandise, sell, ship (if ordered online), and handle customer follow-up for all your items! No other consignment or resale format offers the level of service we provide. All we ask is the following:
-
All clothing must be clean and current styles and brands, not more than 3 years old, must be freshly laundered and in mint condition. Items that are stained, dirty, wrinkled, pilled, inside out, faded, not authentic, personalized, group or camp affiliated, or having odors or other defects will not be accepted. Also, clothing sizes NB-2T must have sets paired together. Single pieces in those sizes are more difficult to sell and therefore may not be accepted.
-
Clothing items need to be brought in neatly folded or laid flat. No hangers please. We cannot accept clothing on hangers.
-
Non-clothing items are to be clean and in like-new condition, assembled, and batteries included where needed.
-
Items with multiple pieces must have all pieces together in ziplock bags and bags must be securely taped closed.
-
Sort items by season. We take all seasons all year round, but we ask that you separate them into separate totes when unloading them at check-in.
Items not in compliance with the above guidelines and therefor must be donated will be assessed a sorting fee of .10 per item. We base prices on supply and demand within our market. We will get the best possible prices for you. A small buyers fee is added to the selling price of most items and is paid by the buyer, not by you the consignor. Your earnings are paid on the net selling price. The price may at times be discounted to encourage the sale of your items.
The consignment period is 60 days or until the end of the regular consignment season, which for Spring/Summer is May 31st and Fall/Winter is December 31st. If you wish to retrieve unsold items over $50, please do so by the end of the regular consignment season. Items not picked up by the end of your consignment period become the property of the store to dispose of as it sees fit. We donate unsold items to local charitable organizations who distribute them to those much less fortunate than us.
Our normal consignment hours are MON-FRI from 9 am to 5:30 pm and SAT 10 am - 5:30 pm. We ask that you call ahead and make an appointment if these times do not work for you.
What You Make
For those items you sell during the consignment period, you can be paid in either cash or store credit according to the schedule shown. There is a 10-day clearing period between the time of sale and availability of cash payouts. Store credit is available immediately. Your earnings are as follows:
70% for items selling over $500 or through the Smoky Mountain MJ Private Sale
60% for items selling over $100
50% for items selling over $50
40% for all other items with the exception of...
30% for unsorted clothing, marginal brands, small toys, books, and items that would be priced for $6 or less.
When you are ready to bring in, we encourage consignors now to pre-register prior to coming in. Please note this does not create a reservation for you. It merely saves you time during drop-off.
