Our Story
The Adorable Child & Next YZ Consignment Marketplace is one of the most unique consignment stores in East Tennessee. What began as a simple children's consignment boutique in 2006 has expanded multiple times to become an online and showroom marketplace containing a broad variety of children's, youth and adult clothing as well as toys, home-goods, shoes and accessories.
The quality of consignors and their consignments and brands is one of the many reasons The Adorable Child & Next YZ is truly a very special consignment marketplace.
In June of 2013 we expanded into trendy clothing and accessories for young women of all ages - accommodating our child customers (and their mom's) as they grow up. After a naming contest among our customers, we branded this store-within-a-store Beyond Adorable Boutique.
In November of 2015 we relaunched our online shopping site at www.adorableonline.co (also accessible via www.theadorablechild.com). This allowed us to expand our reach and better serve our wonderful and growing customer base. We ship anywhere in the United States and add items daily to the site.
In July of 2021 we moved our store to a new space in the Village Green Shopping Center right across the street from our original location. By doubling our floor space we have been able to offer more breadth inventory and serve many more consignors and customers.
Concurrent with our move in July of 2021 we rebranded our women's section to Next YZ - with a nod toward the Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z customers that we serve. Within Next YZ we have vastly expanded our women's clothing and have even begun carrying trendy men's clothing. This has allowed our business to serve the whole family with gently used preferred brands year-round.
We opened for business in the summer of 2006. Founders Brad Hobbs and Judy Davis opened the business in the summer of 2006. In 2021 Brad assumed sole ownership of the business in conjunction with the move to Village Green. Judy continue to shop with us frequently, enjoying her role as “founder emeritas.”
As a faith-based business, we continue to rely upon Some beyond ourselves who is greater than our quirky human frailties. For that grace-filled perspective on life we are most grateful and choose to live every day with gratitude for being able to serve all people and the adorable children of all ages in their lives.
